COURSE OVERVIEW
This course aims to give you a good understanding of the theory underlying Autism and practical support strategies. The course will aim to give a balanced overview of the strengths and difficulties associated with Autism. The first day of the course focuses on the theory behind the core difficulties in Autism. Day two focuses on practical advice and strategies to support individuals with Autism. Key course content includes:
Overview of the history of Autism
Current routes to diagnosis
A discussion around some of the core difficulties in Autism
A focus on some of the strengths of individuals with Autism
What changes you can make to support individuals with Autism
Positive Behaviour Support planning
Tried and tested methods for supporting individuals with Autism
Introduction to Social Stories and Comic Strip Conversations
The opportunity to discuss specific issues or difficulties
COURSE LENGTH
Due to the in-depth nature of this course, it is only available as a two-day course. If you are looking for an 'Introduction to Autism', we also offer a shorter half or one-day course.
